SALT Textiles is a meditation on a craft.
Founded by textile artist Jordan Maxwell, SALT pairs a reverence for nature with an ongoing exploration of craft and earth-centred practices.
Jordan’s work tends to our relationship to the everyday through natural materials and slow processes. Jordan considers not only the material aspect of textile work but the subtle states conjured through intentional creative practice, working with the elements and matriarchal cycles.
Jordan favours organic materials, traditional methods and plant dyes when creating pieces for SALT. She has studied the devotional arts of meditation, The Way of Tea (茶道), folk herbalism and the Wise Woman Tradition which continue to influence her way of working.
In addition to artworks and collections of functional objects, Jordan shares her craft through natural dye workshops and programmes on eco-creativity.
