FOUR MOONS - PRACTICE PORTAL

FOUR MOONS: CREATIVE PRACTICE JOURNEY
SPRING CYCLE, MARCH 2024

“Creativity is something that natures through us when we give it the room it needs.” ― Toko-Pa Turner

Welcome to FOUR MOONS.

Over the next month, you’ll be delving into your inner and outer landscapes. Guided by the elements and supported by your creative and devotional practices, you will meet the Earth and have the opportunity to be nourished, inspired and moved by your relationship with life itself.

Ask yourself, what does it mean to be creative? What does creative living mean to you?

I believe that every moment is an opportunity to craft beauty, intention and meaning. From how we prepare our meals to mending beloved garments; planting a garden or creating works for ourselves and our community. Through intention and material, we are mirroring the world back to itself. Reflecting on our stories and culture we are becoming more intimate with our aliveness, and the aliveness of the world we call home.

Throughout this journey, you will meet each element as a guide, teacher, elder and muse. Together, we will explore meditation, earth-centred creative practices, daily rituals and nature-connection exercises that will deepen your relationship with your inner artist and Mother Earth.

Thank you for being here and being a part of this spring constellation.

With love & gratitude,
Jordan

DAILY CREATIVE PRACTICE

"Ritual is a form of direct knowing, something indigenous to the psyche. It has evolved with us, taking knowing into the bone, into our very marrow." ― Francis Weller

I encourage you to create a daily practice for yourself. The soft hours of the early morning and late evening are the ones I find the most potent. Daily rituals ground us into the sacred and offer us mindful opportunities to connect with our self and the Earth.

Below is a suggested Morning and Evening practice. You are welcome to create your own, depending on your commitments and daily routines. If you find yourself more creative in the morning and reflective in the evening then switch up the practices to honour your inner cycle.

I recommend scheduling these practices at the same time every day to create a daily ritual. Commit to showing up even when you feel tired or uninspired. Growth often lives outside our comfort zones.

SUGGESTED MORNING PRACTICES
Morning Pages - 1-3 pages of stream-of-consciousness writing.
Go outside - talk a 15-minute walk or spend time in a dedicated sit-spot.
Meditation - 10-30 minutes of self-guided or audio-guided meditation.

SUGGESTED EVENING PRACTICES
Dedicated creative time - commit to 15-30 minutes every day.
Meditation, poetry, silence, calming drawing or painting - 15-20 minutes.
No screens or technology an hour before bed

During the FOUR MOONS journey be mindful of your phone and social media usage. Limit usage until after morning practice and before evening practice. If you need to use your phone for meditation or music, keep it on aeroplane mode and use a red filter.

TO GATHER AND PREPARE

TO PREPARE

Altar Space: Clean and set up a cosy altar space for our time together. There are no rules on how to create an altar. It can be a collection of objects on a shelf or table, set up in front of a fireplace or window or you can use a small mat or weaving. Have this somewhere peaceful that you sit at every day and during our live calls.

Studio Space: If you don’t have a studio dedicated to your craft, clear a corner of your home or kitchen table that you can use for your daily creative practice. Make sure it’s somewhere that is undisturbed and can be left untidy if needed. Adorn and place inspirational objects here.

Download Insight Timer (for self-guided meditation and practices). You can also download the weekly guided meditation onto your phone for easy listening.

Download Whatsapp for our FOUR MOONS community group. The invite will be sent after the first circle.

“Creativity is sacred, and it is not sacred. What we make matters enormously, and it doesn’t matter at all. We toil alone, and we are accompanied by spirits. We are terrified, and we are brave. Art is a crushing chore and a wonderful privilege. Only when we are at our most playful can divinity finally get serious with us. Make space for all these paradoxes to be equally true inside your soul, and I promise—you can make anything. So please calm down now and get back to work, okay? The treasures that are hidden inside you are hoping you will say yes.”
Elizabeth Gilbert
